Stainless steels are widely used in applications where resistance to heat and corrosion are required, commonly in markets such as oil & gas, power generation, autoclaves, medical equipment, water resources and many more.
Recently, Frisa Express has developed complex forging projects that required the use of two of these corrosion resistant materials: the challenging Nitronic® 60 and 304 stainless steel used for heavy forgings.
The projects consisted in the production of several forged rings for the hydro power generation industry, where we forged a couple of 304 stainless steel rolled rings, with a combined weight of 40,000 lb., in only 2.5 weeks.
We also forged two large Nitronic® 60 contoured rolled rings, achieving not only input weight reduction for our customer, but delivering it in record time.
Over the years, Frisa has been utilizing state-of-the-art systems to control critical processes and focusing on developing broader material know-how. Nowadays, we handle more than 25 different grades of stainless steel including:
STAINLESS STEEL GRADES | |
17-4 PH | ASTM A286 |
304/304L | ASTM A182F51 |
310 | FV 535 |
316/316L | N60 |
321 | 420 |
347 | X46Cr13 |
405 | X22CrMoV12-1 |
410 | XCrNiMo12-4 |
422 | X11CrMo12-1 |
431 | F6NM/1.4313 |
M152 | Nitronic 50/60 |
This is just an example of how we can provide strategic forging capabilities to ensure product success and customer satisfaction. As a result, customers that value top quality rely even more on Frisa Express to forge complex materials in shapes much closer to net-shape than were considered feasible a few years ago.
