What can we do instead in order to keep our quality control level?

When sourcing bearings globally, regular audits and factory visits are highly important for supplier quality control. However, while the pandemic inhibits international travel, one needs other approaches since the current situation must not lead to a lack of quality.

Here, rapid testing of bearings can be a valid alternative. Putting a small number of samples on a test rig and applying high loads and speeds will yield a first impression on the capabilities of the supplier. Especially for small bearings, this can be less costly than an intercontinental business trip under normal circumstances.

More insights about this topic will be shared during the presentation “Development of Bearing Suppliers and Quality Control during Purchasing” by Hagen Elgeti.

Please feel free to join this presentation on 15 – 18 March at the Bearing Expo & B2B Meetings event. Apart from that, you can always contact Hagen Elgeti from Elgeti Engineering for your individualized advice.

About Hagen Elgeti:
Hagen Elgeti began his career researching tribology and machine elements at the RWTH Aachen University. In 2009, he founded Elgeti Engineering GmbH. Their services include 3rd party failure analysis of gearboxes, pumps, motors, and more as well as bearing supplier development.

Hagen Elgeti personally conducts world-wide audits of bearing factories multiple times a year. His team examines the geometry and material quality of sample bearings and conducts endurance testing on various custom-built test rigs. These activities have resulted in the extensive experience in bearing production and quality control which is shared in their regularly-offered seminars.
